As part of the orthodontic service, you’ll receive a maintenance kit to clean your braces and keep your teeth in great shape. These kits usually include a toothbrush, floss, wax, Proxabrush, a hygiene guide, and a food list.
Brushing with braces is a bit different from brushing regularly because now you have some gear blocking your teeth. You have to move your toothbrush in a circular manner in three different positions: the top of your braces, the bottom, and the front. It’s important to dedicate 30 seconds to each position. You need to put enough pressure on the brush to clean up but don’t be too rough or you’ll hurt your teeth. You also need to get the bristles under the wiring to remove as much food residue as possible.
