A garden hose’s diameter affects the flow of water out of the hose. A hose with a smaller diameter will have less water flow, while a hose with a larger diameter will have more water flow.
However, a larger diameter will also make a hose much heavier to carry. Three common hose diameters available at a typical store include 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, and 3/4 inch. If you have a small yard and don’t need a lot of water to come out of your hose, a smaller model is probably the most practical, but if you need to fill a lot of buckets with water, a larger hose will get the job done more efficiently.
A hose’s weight determines its strength and durability. A super heavy-duty hose can survive harsh conditions, such as harsh weather or frequently being dragged across pavement or gravel. However, as the name implies, it also weighs a lot, so if you don’t need your hose to sustain a lot of wear and tear, a lighter model may be more sensible to use.
